چکیده

The impact of relativistic pionic correlations and meson-exchange currents on the response functions for electromagnetic quasielastic electron scattering from nuclei is studied in detail. Results in first-order perturbation theory are obtained for one-particle emission electronuclear reactions within the context of the relativistic Fermi gas model. Improving upon previous analyses where non-relativistic reductions of the currents were performed, here a fully relativistic analysis in which both forces and currents are treated consistently is presented. Lorentz covariance is shown to play a crucial role in enforcing the gauge invariance of the theory. Effects stemming uniquely from relativity in the pionic correlations are identified and, in particular, a comprehensive study of the self-energy contributions and of the currents associated with the pion is presented. Firstand second-kind scaling for high momentum transfer is investigated. PACS: 25.30.Rw, 14.20.Gk, 24.10.Jv, 24.30.Gd, 13.40.Gp

Parity–violating quasielastic electron scattering is studied within the context of the relativistic Fermi gas and its extensions to include the effects of pionic correlations and meson–exchange currents. The work builds on previous studies using the same model; here the part of the parity–violating asymmetry that contains axial–vector hadronic currents is developed in detail using those previou...

Gauge and Lorentz invariant one - pion exchange currents in electron scattering from a relativistic Fermi gas

A consistent analysis of relativistic pionic correlations and meson-exchange currents for electroweak quasielastic electron scattering from nuclei is carried out. Fully-relativistic one-pion-exchange electromagnetic operators are developed for use in one-particle emission electronuclear reactions within the context of the relativistic Fermi gas model. Then the exchange and pionic correlation cu...

Relativistic and nuclear structure effects in parity-violating quasielastic electron scattering.

The parity violating longitudinal asymmetry A is calculated for quasielastic electron scattering. We use a variety of relativistic mean field models for the response of nuclear matter and 12 C at a momentum transfer of q=550 MeV/c. Relativistic effects from a reduced nucleon mass, RPA correlations and vacuum polarization can all change A by a relatively large amount. These large nuclear structu...

Relativistic models for quasielastic (e,e') at large momentum transfers.

Inclusive quasielastic response functions are calculated for electron scattering in a relativistic model including momentum dependent scalar and vector mean fields. The momentum dependence of the mean fields is taken from Dirac optical fits to proton nucleus scattering and is important in describing data at momentum transfers of 1 GeV/c or larger. Our simple model is applicable for quasielastic...

Parity-violating Longitudinal Response

The parity-violating quasielastic electron scattering response is explored within the context of a model that builds antisymmetrized random phase approximation and Hartree-Fock correlations on a relativistic Fermi gas basis. Particular emphasis is put on the weak-neutral longitudinal response function, since this observable displays a strong sensitivity to isospin correlations: specifically, it...
